Curriculum Overview

At BBIH, our curriculum is designed to help every student feel safe, seen, and supported to thrive—academically, personally, and socially. Guided by our values of Leadership, Inclusion, Growth, Ambition, and Sustainability, we provide a curriculum that enables students to build the confidence, skills, and purpose they need to shape positive futures.

We understand that every student arrives with a different story. Our aim is to provide a broad, flexible, and personalised curriculum that meets each learner where they are—and help them move forward.

🔹 Core Curriculum Aims:

• Support students to make meaningful progress, both academically and personally
• Offer tailored progression pathways into further education, apprenticeships, or employment
• Reinforce a positive identity as a learner, with high expectations and individualised support

🔹 How We Deliver Our Curriculum:

Consistency: No matter the subject, year group, or level, all students receive the same high-quality education. Lessons are structured, purposeful, and supportive.
Small class sizes: With an average class size of 12 or fewer, students benefit from strong relationships with subject specialists and regular, precise feedback that identifies how to improve and succeed.
Clear, actionable feedback: Teachers check learning continuously in every lesson, offering frequent feedback that helps students understand both what they’re doing well and what their next steps are. All work is checked weekly to ensure progress remains on track.

Assessment that drives progress:

o At Key Stage 3, regular use of clear descriptors enables teachers to pinpoint individual progress and guide improvement.
o At Key Stage 4, students work towards nationally recognised qualifications at a level suited to them, with assessment built into daily practice to support timely, targeted learning.
We do not believe that a young person’s past should define their future. Our curriculum is ambitious and aspirational—giving every student the tools, qualifications, and self-belief to pursue their own version of success.
