The BBIH school community are extremely proud of 3 Year 11 students who will shortly become published authors.
Imran Taylor-Lewis, Thalia Redmond and Kaycielea Clark entered mini sagas into the Mission Chaos – out of the Dark writing competition. The 3 young authors will have their stories published in November and their work encapsulated in print.
English Teacher, Mrs Tennant-Hayes encouraged the students to take part in the competition and believes that this recognition shows all the students at BBIH that anything is possible.
‘Some students can find English a difficult subject as it seems very removed from young people lives and experiences today. I encourage my students to write about what they know and feel so that it is authentic and relatable.’
Thalia was shocked when presented with her prize and being told her work would be published.
‘It feels great to have my work published. This has made me realise that what happens at school can be used in future life’.
BBIH is an Alternative Provision in Woodford. Head of School, Kevin Howarth commented
‘It is important that our students have the same opportunities and experiences that are offered to young people in mainstream provisions. We are very proud of the students that have done so well in this competition and shows all our students what can be achieved.’
